San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hi Michael,

My thoughts are if you trap it - it doesn't really solve the real problem- which is that your coop is weak to predators. Better off building a proper coop and definitely use hardware cloth.

Good luck!
Hilary

Yep simply trapping it just leaves a hole for another to take its place..... better to teach it that chicken coops are unproductive and or the fencing around it BITES hard. So they are "conditioned" to leave yours alone. Yet keeping other untrained predators out of the area.

My turn! :D Replace the wire with something stronger and put the food up at night. I always take mine out of the run and put it in the coop, I don't want to feed even mice!
If you're looking for an excuse to build a bigger, nicer coop then you've got one ;)

Thanks for the input, everyone.

I need to FACE FACTS and build a new coop.

In the meantime, I put up welded wire totally ghetto style to keep the creature at bay.

CHANGE OF TOPIC

Is anyone going to the 2pm meeting tomorrow to encourage the City Council to vote in favor of five chickens, no questions asked, in the City of San Diego?

Of course, I'll still be out of compliance.....but now all my friends can get them legally!

I hadn't heard of it....I'm in the county. What's the limit now? I bought a hen from a gal in the city that had a big flock of chickens, several roosters and some ducks. You mean, she wasn't in compliance either?
