San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

If she's truly broody, I do have some Silver Campine pullet eggs here I'd like to test for fertility. My only deal is that if they hatch, I would like them back; I'm ramping up a little SC breeding program. The eggs are small, and a BSL hen could probably sit on a lot of them.
Dana,

I have a Silver Campine pullet at my house if you are interested for your breeding program. Let me know.

ARGHHH hatched some legbar chicks over the weekend and 100% are roos. So - if anyone wants some Legbar roos Let me know.

Out of the last 9 CL eggs I hatched 7 have been roos

Hey guys,

Sorry I have been MIA. Moving has been absolutely crazy and we STILL aren't done! I feel like this is never going to end. AND At&t screwed up our phone and internet order so we have been "off the grid" for almost 2 weeks now. =(

This is our last week moving and today and for the next couple days we will be moving the critters so please let me know if anyone would like to come help, we could definitely use it!

Thanks and hope I haven't missed too much while I was away!

Someone just mentioned to me yesterday that on average 70% of hatches will be roos. I hadn't heard that, but I sure do notice it!! Luckily for me my last hatch resulted in 2 boys and 6 girls. yay  I sure feel for you though. Especially when they're such nice birds.

Statistically, whether it's a person or a chicken, each embryo has a 50/50 chance of being either male of female. It's like flipping a coin, each time you flip, there is always a 50% chance that it will land on either one side or the other.

On another note, I have some mini rex baby bunnies (Pet/breeder quality mostly) that need good homes. They are tricolors: Blue, white and fawn or black white and orange. PM me if interested!
