YAY i've been waiting forEVER for a meetup!

I think we should pick a date first. If sooner, I vote September 22nd or 23rd. If later, I vote October 6th or 7th.

As far as a place, someone mentioned not having it in Ramona in order to escape the heat a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of anywhere? I can do some calling around and internet research... what do I ask/look for to find out whether they'll allow us to have chickens?

We always seem to have a TON of seramas coming to visit and few chickens. I'd love to see more hens, so hopefully some people on here have some they can bring. If nothing else, just for show? Just wanted to put that out there too.

I'd say Oct to give folks time to plan. Some come from as far as L.A. and we'd love to have them too. You pick the day if you're planning. The last two were held on a Sat. and some people have mentioned they'd like the next one on a Sun., but if you're planning you pick. Don't wait for people to chime in, then it looks like you're picking the date based on who can come.

You can look for a park with shade. A spot to unload would be nice. Tables would be nice but not necessary as we can always bring some. You just need to ask whoever is in charge at the park if we can have it there. We will be taking birds out of cages so not too many restrictions there. In the past it's been held at Lake Murray in La Mesa and Collier Park in Ramona. Collier Park is really nice, but it's far for some people...I don't know if it's that hot in Oct. You'd have to ask a few Ramona residents about that.

It'd be up to you to get there early to secure the spot. After that it's up to you to decide how you want to do it.

I still have some color pages and crayons to bring to keep kids busy.

The last meet up there were lots of Seramas because we had it the same place and time as the Serama show. The time before we had tons of birds, lots of hens, just about anything you could want. It's different each time.

Hah! I just realized I can't October 6th & 7th as that is 'opening day' at our pumpkin patch in Julian!!! Anyone who wants to bring their kids to the pumpkin patch this year is more than welcome to come. The pumpkins are organic, cheap and enormous (some well over 50 lbs). This year we have 8 different kinds of pumpkins growing up there from mini to massive, sugar to Cinderella to BLUE (Jarrahdale) pumpkins! Which reminds me, I have to remember to get listed on pickyourown.org.... Just PM me for info and I'll also probably post something as it gets closer to that date.

Also, thanks but I think I'll pass on being leader on the meetup. I'm never there for more than a couple hours although I'm super willing to help find a place and make some calls. I can also bring snacks!
