San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Here's what I propose: Next meet up Sunday, September 30th , 2012 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/picnic/collier.html
Raffle prizes and Cupcake contest.
We'd need someone to:
-call the park and make sure it's okay for us to converge on them
-someone willing to go early to secure a nice shady spot for us, the concrete tables under the big trees are always shaded
-raffle prizes
-someone who wants to be in charge of the raffle (collecting prizes, setting up the table, selling tickets, calling out numbers)
-someone who wants to be in charge of the cupcake contest (prize, setting up the table, finding judges, announcing winner)
-someone who will be there early to provide name tags and make sure that people put them on
-someone committed to staying until everyone has left to make sure all is picked up and left as we found it

I suggest we do pic nic style with a table for those that want to bring food to share. It's nice to taste other people's cooking!!
We should have lots of cupcakes to share once the contest is complete too :p

Here's what I can do:

Knock Kneed Hen- bring color pages and crayons for kids, supply origami paper for kids, donate some raffle items

This is only an outline to help get things started. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions and where you'd be able to help.

I won't be able to make it that day, but I called the park attendant (Keith) at Collier Park. He said it's not a problem for us to bring our birds and such, and we don't need any permits or written permission, or to fill out any forms. He asked if it would be over 4 hours and I said I wasn't sure but there would probably be some people past 4 hours. He asked how many people and I told him maybe 30 plus children? (I could be way off there). He replied surprised he thought I had been talking thousands and it wasn't going to be a big deal then. He suggested getting there early (8am) just like KKH did, in order to reserve the gazebo or any tables we would like to use. I also didn't give him a specific date, so in the event Oct 7th doesn't work out, this info should stand. I hope this helps and have fun everyone!! (igotchickens)
