This morning there was a ruckus in the coops around 6:15. I got up and went to the window that has a clear view--it's about 20 feet from the chicken runs. Standing right in front of the coop, nose to the chain link, was a coyote. I said a bad word, he looked at me, then ran off. I was glad the chickens fussed about it--I was afraid they might just get quiet and hunker down if a predator came. It's good to know they'll alert me. Anyway, their runs were designed with coyotes in mind, but I think I'll still be working on reinforcements this weekend...
