If someone wants to buy my last pair of Cotton Patch geese (1yr old, proven breeders/parents) at the meet up, let me know. $150 for the pair, (Thats a good price, most breeders won't do less than $100 per bird). The gander won't leave one of my roosters alone and I keep having to lock him up, so I feel that it might be better if he can go to another goose home. ​

We lost a friend in the fire. I believe. He wouldnt leave. My neighbor Tom knew him for more than thirty years. Tom is devastated. Carson made a choice to stay.... Sigh.

Other than that it didnt get near my place. When I went up today all the helicopters were setting at the forrestry station by Kitchen creek.

Instead of closet posts go for two by fours layed flat. It makes a more comfortable perch for them. I used those closet posts on my first coop and they twirled my girls right off till I figured out how to make them solid.

Yes, use a 2x4! We used a dowel as well and chickens' feet aren't really made to grip around like flying birds, they more go flat, so a 2x4 gives their feet much more room. I think I have some used 12 footers (with nails in parts) which you can have if you need shorter pieces or want to take the time to take the nails out.

There are several who stayed. I know him they indicated he was handicapped 82 year old man. He was far from Handicapped. He had an artificial leg and was very ambulatory with it.... I bet he thought he could fight the fire himself. Call it ego? I don't know.

Lots of times folks don't realize how dangerous a fire like this can be until its too late. Sorry to hear this man lost his life.
