Sand bedding

Would like to try switching to sand for bedding but it’s so expensive! -about 110 dollars for four 50lb bags. I would need two to three times that much. What is the cheapest way that anyone has found to get it?

What on earth?? Are you buying pool filter sand, or specialty aquarium sand or something?

A 50lb bag of fill sand (like to mix with concrete) is only $6 at my local lowes.

A 50lb bag of sand is only $20+ if it’s REALLY fancy

It's the 'chicken sand'. I just bought 4 bags from Amazon at 110.00. It didn't cover 1/3 of the run lol. I like the look and consistency much better than the Lowes Construction sand...but I'm going to run over to the landscaping tomorrow to see if I can find an alternative.

Yes that’s what I was looking at! All the bags I saw at Lowe’s or Menards or similar had warnings about not touching with bare hands and not breathing in the dust and a couple had some type of cancer warning. I know I’m not buying it to play in but it made me question using it at all. I couldn’t find anywhere to buy good sand in bulk so I gave up.
