I was reading through all the amazing coops and runs on here and was inspired by everyone saying how awesome a sand floor is in the run and coops. Now my run and coop doesn't smell at all as I have been using the deep litter method but sand sounded interesting and looks nest and tidy.
So this weekend I took out ALL the deep floor litter ( which was a huge job) and replaced it with sand. It was amazingly easy to clean with a cat pooper scooper and I love it already but my chickens don't know what to think of it and didn't want to walk on it..lol

Here are the pics of our coop and chicken yard...with new sand flooring.

Very cute set up. I'm a sand-a-holic too. Inside and out. What are you using on the ground outside the coop? Looks interesting. OK, maybe it's just hay, but it looks skinnier and bendier than the hay out west.

ugh! started searching for river sand in my area and can't find any. I can locate beach sand, play sand, volleyball sand and paver sand. Could it be called something else, or will paver sand work, it's course?
