Sand for coop litter

Because sand works best where its really dry.
It’s usually always dry, except this year it rained a lot! I have a plywood floor with linoleum on top. The sand got a little wet in the back, but I just move it around and open all the doors and then it dries out. My run is covered with a roof so it doesn’t get wet inside there except around the edges.

So you wouldn’t recommend it for New England?
No, I would not recommend sand for floor/ground bedding most anywhere.
Too much maintenance, IMO, and you can never really get all the poops out.
In NE it will likely freeze solid in the winter.
