Hello all!
I have a range of chicks in my brooder. The two and three week olds (well, mostly the 2 week olds) really want to dust bathe, so much so that three of them squeeze themselves into the treat bowl after the treats are gone! Or, one tried dust bathing in the boiled egg remnants in the bowl last night
So clearly I need to provide them with the means to take dust baths! The soil in my area is clay, so not good for dust baths. I don't want to buy a huge bag of play sand, but at the pet store I saw "marine sand" for aquariums. Would that be okay to use for now? Also, I picked up some food grade DE. Don't know why, as a "just in case" I guess, I saw it talked about on here and saw it advertised at our feed store, so thought maybe I should keep it on hand. Should I mix some of that in with the sand? Or you only use that in case of bugs??
Please help me help my chicks take their much desired dust baths!!
Thx!
