Sand Hill Preservation Center

I have gotten two batches of chicks this year and then I get another one next month.
They are very nice people and I found very fair in their practices. They couldn't send me the chicks that I wanted in March, so they sent a bunch of subs. Then last week I got a replacement batch from them of what I had ordered originally. Since I got replacements with extras in the first batch, I did not expect to get another batch, but there they were. I will say I have lost more chicks from Sand Hill than from McMurray and they are about the same distance to travel.
As for quality, there are some breeds better than others. I got Black Minorcas because they are a better, bigger strain than the Buff. (I got some Buffs with my replacements anyway

) I got free Norwegian Jaerhons that are looking really nice and I am putting them on my favorites list already.
I don't know what their production is like yet, but so far they are doing well. I would go back to them for rare breeds, but I am not sure if I am going to get other breeds from them again. It all depends on my needs.

My Sandhill order came Thurs morning, they were shipped Tues. 29 chicks, no losses, all are doing good. Minimun order is 25, they threw in 4 extra, thought that was nice. They gave me 6 each of Ancona, Golden Polish, Gold Laced Polish, and Black Sumatra, plus 5 Frizzle.

No
curly toes, no pasty butts, all active little birds. I'm curious to see what they'll mature into. I feel comfortable ordering from them again; wanting ducks next year.

We ordered chicks from Sand Hill and 5 died because they sat at the Oklahoma City Airport for 24 hrs just because they missed the truck by 30 min that would have brought them the 130 miles to our post office, Sand Hill is a Good place to order chicks from nice folks to deal with, Now the Postal Service on the other hand. Sand Hill still owes us 15 Silver Penciled Wyandottes I just hope they wait to send them until it cools down a little like in Oct or Nov.

Absolutely LOVED dealing with Sandhill. Just don't be in a rush. I've got a Buff Brahma Bantam from them who has a little black that "bleeds" down from her neck onto her back (2 others were picture perfect) who is sitting on 14 eggs under a bush in my front yard right now.
Vibrantly healthy birds.
If all goes well I'll be ordering ducks from there for the fall.
