I've read where some people use sand in their runs. What is the purpose for it?
Quote:some people put idt down to help if the run getting too mudy from rain and the sand can be raked way easier than dirt because it will not compact as hard as dirt compacts.
easy clean up (scoop like kittylitter), keeps down smell, dust baths.....etc, etc, etc
Quote:Read about it here on BYC - put sand in the coop and some in the run - spot clean both daily...with a litter scoop!! LOVE IT Chickens love the dust baths - even good for making rabbit poops easy to pick up!! Clean chickens, clean bunnies, clean living space!
All the above and it dries out poop fast!
