I use the sand method in my coop and my barn. LOVE it!!! Clean up is quick and easy.
Right now, the duckies are still inside the sun room on a tile floor. I have used shavings, astro turf, and rubber back mats. Next major project is to take a concrete area (mostly above ground, walk out, walls on 2 sides) and frame it in with hardware cloth to make it a "coop" just for duckies. It will have drop down boards to help keep it warm/wind proof during cold weather/storms. It has electricity, so I can keep it heated when needed.
So...has anyone used the sand method with ducks?
How was it?
Do the ducks do ok with it? (They chewed on the astro turf, so that was a no go. It works great with chickens though.)
The Clubhouse will still be in a different location and still have the pool.
The guys will still free range.
