Sand VS Gravle in Loft

Which one works Best ?

Gravle or Sand. Could I use pine shavings ?

New to pigeons & just had a nice big loft built for my pairs of Pouters & fantails.

So any info is greatly appriciated

My loft measures about 15 ft X 20 ft.

Pine shavings are fine. Sandbox grade sand is good too because it acts as a giant litter box. Probably better than shavings because it doesn't add any additional dust to the loft. Plus they can eat it as grit (although clean grit should be provided in a container 24/7).

I have sand in my dove aviary, and i think it works better. The doves like to use it as grit. And they do seem to enjoy it in the aviary.

What type of sand should I use ???
