Sand? What kind?

I'm wondering what kind of sand to use for chickens. Can anyone list safe ones that you use please. All-purpose Quikcrete or all purpose gardening sand, I hear course is better. I read that All-purpose Quikcrete sand can cause cancer?

My local stone supply joint called it “river run.” It can be called by different names but you are looking for natural sand. Enough to bulldog my lifted pickup truck (about 1200 pounds) cost $17.
