What do you guys use to sanitize your brooders?

I don't anymore. I use an old appliance box and throw it out. But when I used plastic I just washed it with antibacterial soap and let it dry in the sun.

I'm using an old dog kennel so I feel like I have to sanitize it. I don't know if I should use bleach or if there's something better.

What was in the dog kennel before, do you know?

I've never sanitized anything for my chickens. Anything that dries easily like plastic gets hosed off and that's it.

I have never used bleach but if you rinse it really well after it should be fine. Sunshine is effective and safe as well.

I used it for my dog a couple of years ago. It's a metal one. I can wash it with antibacterial dish soap and then let it dry in the sun if you think that'll work.

I reuse my metal dog kennel all the time after just a rinse. I think it will be fine.

I use a 1:4 bleach/water solution to spray or wipe the wooden parts down in my wood/wire brooder cage. Same thing for the smaller plastic tote brooder. Once it's dry, the bleach evaporates and dissipates.

I don't wash it while being used; just a plastic putty knife to scrape off the messy bits.

I use Virkon! A great disinfectant for a variety of bacteria.

Bleach water in a sprayer is going to be your best bet.
