I am incubating a couple of eggs and I have noticed that one of the eggs is seeping amber coloured fluid from the shell. Is this a rotten egg? Should I be taking it out?

Yep, and be VERY gentle with that egg. They explode sometimes. I take a small plastic bag, invert it over my hand, and use that to get it out and close the bag asap.

CRISIS DIVERTED!!!! Thanks for the quick response! It smelled horrible.

Just an hour ago I had to help a chick out of an egg and now it is resting in the bator....imagine if that exploded??!!! PHEW!!

THANKS for the help!

And yeah, it's a smell you'll never forget. These days, when I incubate? I sniff the bator daily and I also inspect each egg for any leakage, using a flashlight to look through the window.

Congratulations on the chick!

I understand and know the smell all to well. I had a broody hen that had two eggs explode underneath her. The whole barn WREAKED!!!!!! Thank goodness for pine bedding and DE!
