Curious why one of my chicks has a tuft and one doesn’t 🤔

It's a crest. Tufts are a specific organ that araucanas have on their ears.

It just depends on what breeds were used to make them. That one likely has legbar in its background
 
That's known as a crest. Tufts are at the ear lob section just above where muffs would be on a bearded bird.

Olive Eggers are hybrids and variations being seen are the norm not the exception..

Crest *possibly* from some Cream Legbar in the background for the blue egg gene.

Thank you! That makes sense as to their coloring being slightly different as well. We bought them together so we assumed they had the same background.
