Sattinette Pigeons

Scratch that, I have one baby in the nest. I think one was bigger than the other and stole all the food

But yes, they are tamed easily. I have no problem catching them off their perches, and they don't mind being held. The babies are SO so so so cute

Their big eyes and little beaks. In fact, the baby I have now is going to someone as an indoor pet once it is weaned.

I bought a sattinette yesterday. my other pigeons eat pellets made for pigeons. they are about the same size as chicken layer pellets. can this little guy eat them ok? I live in nh. will it be ok outside in a coop with the others? I also have 8 coturnix quail in an insulated coop. would the pigeon be better off with the quail on wild game crumbles?

Satinettes aren't so good with pellets because their mouths/beaks aren't very big. But crumbles will be good, and the quail won't bother it (and vise versa). I have a trio of quail in one of my lofts that I call my cleanup crew

They get along peacefully. Satinettes are just fine with other breeds, and handle the cold/heat just as well. Mine have no problem outside. But either way will work!

Some pictures of George when he was a little squeaker.

I'll take some of my newest baby tomorrow

He'll be tinier with more pin feathers.

I have to admit i'm intrigued by these tiny pigeons. I've always been a lover of the small and tiny.

thanks for the info. what type of quail do you have? mine are coturnix so are smaller than the satinette. I put in wild game crumbles yesterday am just in case. how big do they get? mine is supposed to be full grown. The person I bought it from did not have much knowledge as he was selling it for someone else.

They are small bird, averaging about 11-13 ounces. Mine are full of themselves :p They have great little personalities.

I am really happy to hear that

I have 8 of the same breed and I was kind of thinking the satinette might help keep the coturnix warm. the quail live in a large cage in my chicken coop. the coop is insulated but the quail are so small that I am afraid they will be cold.
