Save some Battery Hens hurry!

Just a warning to adoptees battery hens are vaccinated with vaccinnes not allowed in some states that make them carriers for what they were vaccinated for and can spread diseases to unvaccinated birds. Research what you may be exposing to your flock. The chicken rescue folks seem to neglect this fact either intentionally or unintentionally. FYI

Nobody asked me and I should just stay out of it. But "rescuing" battery hens is a sure way to import trouble.

X2. Great care must be taken, even then the risk is high.

I understand what you all are saying, but I still feel these abused hens deserve a happy ending.

I have rescued battery hens and they have been brilliant. In desperate need of tender loving care of course, but great girls anyway. Ours laid like it was going out of fashion, and when their egg production declined we kept them anyway because they deserved no less. I would urge anyone who has the capacity to take on these girls to give it a whirl. Of course usual quarantine period applies but i have run battery girls alongside unvaccinated birds no problem. Don't be put off by doom mongers, do the decent thing.
