Saved some ducks, have a few questions.

They're getting so big! Here is what they're starting to look like. Their underside feathers are coming in. For a while we thought the darker one was just always getting himself wet :-D

Duke is doing phenomenal as well. She's so sweet, and though she still pecks at the babies once in a while she gets along with them great now. All three will lay down together when they're out running around.

P.S. due to a nasty bug working it's way through our family and picking us off one by one, their outside home is still not finished *sigh* it needs to get done!

What do you mean about a "nasty bug"...?
Is it picking off the humans or the ducks?

I presently have 2 cayugas, 5 chinese geese and 4 crested ducks in the house. They are too young to be put outside yet.
Makes for alot of tiny quackings all day and all night.

Oh and by the way, I think you have a Khaki Campbells. Cayugas are black with greenish tint. Khakis are wonderful. I have 2 and they are quite sweet.

The humans :-/ There's a couple flu bugs in our area, and strep is going around. We've been too sick to work on the pen.

I'm almost sad they'll be moving outside. They are noisy, and messy, but we love hanging out with them!

How old are yours?

The chicks I have in my bedroom (only room cat has no access) are 2 cayugas that are 4 days old, 5 chinese geese that are also 4 days old and
4 crested chicks ( 1 is khaki campbell, 1 is a silver appleyard and another I do not know but they are not from 2 crested duck parents) and these 4 are
11 days old.
I have other ducks outside that are 1 year old and 2 geese also same age.

I love watching ducks and geese especially when they come out of the water and start preening themselves... goes on for a very long time.

I have 3 plastic containers and put some straw in each but have to change that twice a day... ducklings are very very messy and noisy during the
night too.. LOL

took them out today for a bit of swimming ..here is a pic

Yes, they are chinese geese. Also have the 2 tiny cayugas in there and 4 crested ducklings. Those 4 are all different kinds. 1 appleyard, 1 peking, 1 campbell, and not sure about the 4th one.
They really are darlings and yesterday my son built me a special cage for them to be outside during the day.
Took him only about 20 min, to make and it is great!
It is completely covered with mesh and just perfect to keep my babies outside in this beautiful weather. Of course they will be in the house at night
but now they can spend their days outside and get used to the other ducks and geese. The goose and gander spent the whole day watching over
the ducklings and goslings. Was quite adorable!

That pen is great! What a great idea, and so nice of him to build it for you.

I took some new pics last night, and then looked back at the ones only a week ago. They change so much so quickly!

Next on our list is new carpet for my daughter's room. ;-)

Babies just grow way too fast. They sure are pretty. Glad to hear Duke has accepted them as her flock! New carpet sounds like a plan. lol

New carpeting... cool!!!
We are in the middle of completely redoing our bathroom.
New shower is in and now need to do the flooring before putting in new counter and tub.

We ripped out the walls and flooring. Wow.. what a mess. This is a very old house we bought
and we have done so much in it. Only thing left after bathroom is the upstairs living room for the
teens. And of course the new balcony, gazebo and whole exterior of the house.

But we have redone the whole inside.
Alot of work.

Oh your babies are so cute!!

They definitely are identical to my Khaki Campbells. If you have a drake, his head will become all blackish-green. Awesome ducks!

I actually put my 2 baby cayugas with the mommy cat and kittens... She LOVES the ducklings and washed them.. I was so stunned at how cute that was.
Got a pic. Hope you can see the ducklings...
