Saw a horrible thing at tractor supple.

I went to tractor supple to get some chicken food and hay for my rabbit, and I went to go look at the baby chicks. But when I got there my heart sank, they had the bins way over filled. You could not see the floor of the bins with how many chicks were in there and they had to walk on top of each other to get around. And the even worst part is. There were dead chicks in there. We talked to the manager but all he told me was they were taking care of it. But I didn't believe him. I dont know what else to do. View attachment 1736768 View attachment 1736769

They should be ashamed of that. Cruelty to animals. They really should get into trouble for that.

Which tractor supply? Is there a chain of them or just one store?

Yes, they should. This is why I'd like to know which store it was. They are all over the country and clearly each store needs some training on handling chicks.

I don't want to mention store names, but ya.!!

That's why I don't buy from TSC.. it's already crowded, they should at least have the decency to get the dead ones out before the store opens!

My local feed store offers to give me the sick ones, but I can't take them. I afraid they will get my chickens sick.

Agree..NOT a good idea!

If you have a humane society or animal control in your area report the store too them for inhumane treatment.
Also when you see abuse or mistreatment, like this you stay there until its corrected.
If you can you go back as often as possible and keep an eye on the treatment to be sure its kept at a proper standard.
Animals cant speak for themselves and too many people only care when there is no effort involved.
You did right be reporting to manager now please keep on the mission of those chicks having the proper care while in the care of the store.
