Saw huge racoon tonight, is this a shoot on site critter, wait and see

well in AZ it is not only illegal to kill them . . . . it is illegal to trap and relocate them also. people do it, they just don't advertise.

I was of course quite upset with the raccoon. We made some changes and so far so good. I meant a worse raccoon meaning an older, smarter one that can get in even with the new changes we made. I read somewhere in my raccoon research it's better to have the old frustrated raccoon around that a new possibly smarter one around. I'm new at this, and love my chickens but I guess I am not hardened enough to where I would actually kill another animal, predator or not.

I'm not really on the fence. Just wanted to be sure that my urge to kill the thing wasn't completely out of line. I'm pretty sure here in Oregon, I'm in the clear, but will check it out just in case. I do have a game-cam, I'll set it up tonight. I have no doubt that if this one wanted to it could do major damage to a coop. LOL, I told my husband that they must grow them big out here because that was the biggest darn coon I have ever seen. And we used to see them everywhere in town. Old one's, young one's, ect. Even the ones we have seen on the roads here didn't have anything on this big fellow. LOL, if I get it, I'll take some pics. It was in a tree just before I posted last night, and I couldn't really tell if it was a racoon, opposum, or my cat until it came down, stopped and looked at me, and bolted for the draw. I think my dog barking scared it up the tree.

Thanks, I might have to find someone to show me how to do it. Even though I'd be taking it out as a threat to my flocks, it would be a shame to just waste it. Seems like a waste of a life. I'd try it. I'll ask around.
