This is my chick "Puffy cheeks" she was given to me (free) as a blue Marans, but she's apparently half EE instead. She always had the puffy cheeks, hence the name. Now she's sprouting a pea comb. Well I have no clue about pea combs. It's not bright red like my other cockerels, and obviously it's not very tall like theirs either. Somebody please tell me that she is actually a SHE! lol

She has me really worried coz it seems like she got a lot more pink-faced all of a sudden like! Say it ain't so!!

Well...I gotta say, it *is* looking a little pinkish. The stance in the first pic also looks a little rooish. I wouldn't be willing to give you a definite at this point but I'd be leaning that direction.

My experience with pea combs has been that early pink is a good sign they are a boy. All of my girls with pea combs have only gotten pink/red once they were much closer to laying age... BUT, seeing as how Puffy Cheeks is a cross, it might be a little bit different. Also, pea combs stay pretty close to the pullets head, and the roos get taller pea combs. BUT, again, PC is a cross. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though!

Looks like a roo to me. Can't raleey tell though they (the chickens) have fooled me before.

Where you at in Benton? I'm out in the Sardis Community in Saline County.

I'm right in the middle of town. Close to Tyndall Park in Benton.
Some others around here have chickens too. I can hear their roo crowing from the other side of the park in the mornings

Know just about where you are at. I've live out in this area for about 32 years minus around three or four years. Spent 3 of them in Tenessee where my wife is from. My children go to school at Bryant.

Nice knowing I have some neighbors with chickens.. I'll probably be at the fair in Saline county in September.
