Saying "bonjour!" from Quebec

Hi everyone! I'm a new member from Notre Dame du Laus, QC. We have a 1 acre waterfront lot and just built a chicken coop and ground pen aviary.

We have 7 new chicks and 4 quail.

The breeds are:
  • Black Copper Maran
  • Easter Egger Chipmunk
  • Lavender Orpinger
  • Leghorn
  • Olive Egger
  • Silver Laced Wyandote, and
  • White Silkie
The quails are Coturnix (Pansy Jumbo, Scarlet, Silver and White Standard)

I am learning a lot on each of the breeds and their care and feeding, and making daily adjustments to the coop for better functionality as the chicks develop by the day - and adjusting for the heat - and the quails who don't like change.

Happy to onboard and I look forward to learning from you all on breeds and recommended practices!

A bientôt!

:frow Welcome, welcome, bienvenido! All you have stated sounds lovely.

Glad to meet you, Helen. You will love the quail - they start laying so much earlier than the chickens, but their eggs are tiny. They are such pretty eggs, though, that I have blown a number and given them to a friend who displays them in pretty jars. Not to put down what pretty eggs your chickens will be laying - you do have some breeds that will have spectacular colored eggs. Welcome and enjoy!
