I'm so sorry and at the same time, I'm so glad that you were able to say goodbye.

My mom had a long illness and a short time to pass over, which left us all blindsided and in shock for a couple of months. If you click on my name, I'm sure that you'll find it under my postings. I don't have a lot of posts so it shouldn't be hard to find..

What we did, all of us, that Mom loved so, when my step dad(who is the MOST loving, amazing man on the earth) was out of the room where we knew he would hear and cry, we sung Mom, "Silent Night" "Amazing Grace" and a couple more that I really can't remember right now. We made that last night like all of the Thanksgiving's and Chistmases and every family get together we had ever had. We sang for Momma and she loved it! She woke up, and knew who we were.

All the people that loved her were there, and she knew it. She had "sparrow bright" eyes that night and I know she knew who we were when before she didn't with the dementia.

The oldest was there, and the younger ones couldn't come into the hospital, but Mom knew who they were and then in the morning, she was gone, just like that.

Your Dad knew you were there, just like mine did when he went Home in 93. They know, even when they can't speak or show it, they know.
