Hi, I'm from PA and yes we have chickens. Our egg flock is a mixed flock of around 50. About 20 of those are pullets and cockerels that were hatched by broody hens this year. Some of which are only 5 weeks old. We are getting ready to cull the extra cockerels and older hens that aren't laying very well.

We had been hatching a couple hundred a year from our breeding flock of leghorns, but it became too much work. So we passed some of those birds on to a friend, put a few in the egg flock, and culled the rest. I thought about continuing the project on a smaller scale, but chose to just end it. I might try again some day.

We usually have a flock of turkeys running around as well, but the hatchery didn't have enough chicks this year. So this is our first year in a long time without turkey's. I could of gone with another variety or the Broad breasted types. In the end we chose not to. My wife is partial to the Bourbon Reds. We might try breeding a flock of bourbons in the future.

Ducks, Quail, and Pheasant used to roam the farm as well. Again, it was just too much and we phased them out about 5 years ago.
