Some quotes I've enjoyed through the years. Like old friends.
Just thought I would share with my friends and hope you can
add a few of your own favorites.

Spook

Some things are loved because they are valuable.
Others are valuable because they are loved.

At first I believed I could.
Then I believed I couldn't.
I was right both times.

Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except
by those who dared believe something inside them
was superior to circumstance.

The same hammer that shatters the glass also
forges the steel.

If you worry, why pray?
If you pray, why worry?

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things
money can't buy.

If you removed the rocks, the brook would lose
it's song.

Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet.

If your mind should go blank, don't forget to turn off
the sound.

The measure of a man is not how tall he is, but how
much his neighbors respect him.

There are hundreds of languages in the world,
but a smile speaks in all of them.

The future belongs to those who are willing to work for it.

Faith does not demand that we win.
It does demand that we keep trying.

If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.

In the midst of everything, take time to love and
laugh and pray. Then life will be worth living each
and every day.

The best thing you can spend on your children is time.

An important part of praying is a willingness to become
part of the answer.

A ship is safe in the harbor. But that isn't what ships were built for.

All lovely quotes Spook.

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

The only quotes and sayings that come to mind right now are mostly from my Pa.

"You can't learn anything when you are talking."

"If wishes were horses we all would ride."

"I told you that horse didn't look good when I sold it to you" (Talking about a blind horse)

and "BOY!, get outta that nest box!"

ooops...

that was a different story...

If you fail at nothing you are not trying hard enough.

Walk softly and carry a big stick.

Better to be thought of as stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I spent years collecting sayings and quotes and wrote them all down in a book. I've got quite a collection! Here's a few:

Yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow only a vision, but today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

It's not easy to find happiness in yourself, but it's impossible to find it anywhere else.

Our lives is what our thoughts make of it.

Woman was made from the rib of man. Not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled on, but from his side to be equal to him, from under his arm to be protected by him, from near his heart to be loved by him.

Patience is the ability to make your light shine after your fuse has blown.

Spending most of life in carpentry and building houses, two come to mind;" There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to come back and fix it"." Never hire a man that smokes a pipe, he spends all day lighting the **** thing and never gets any work done".Then there's one that I heard George Carlin say, " I would rather believe in God and find out there isn't a God, than not believe and find out there is". Also there's the "never give the boss a cigar.

This one is very nice:
If you removed the rocks, the brook would lose
it's song.

I like this one too.

Great quotes, Spook, thanks for sharing them.

One of my favourites always used to be "The music may stop from time to time, but the strings will remain forever."
