Scaley mites?

Hi everyone. I have taken on a roo with 4 girls. He has horrendous feet!!! Is this a result of scaley mites? It looks like parts of his feet have calcified. I feel so sorry for him. I trimmed the feathers so long and soaked him a bit to get a better look. Its terrible. If I suspected mites before I would treat with vaseline/petroleum jelly but this is intense. Please help me help my little dude. Note: Oh greatness I'm struggling to upload photos.

He may have scaly leg mites, but I suspect that he also has articular gout by the lumpy appearance of his toes. The Epsom salts warm soaks daily that helps with leg mites will also help to soothe his foot pain. If you can get a close up of his scales on his legs after trimming the feathers, that may be helpful. This article is good to read about the 2 types gout and possible causes:
