scalped duckling :(

The head is healing nicely. It will be taught while healing, and for a little while afterward, then it should stretch into place better. Don't let up on the antibiotic ointment. It won't be too much longer, and it will be healed up. You've done a great job taking care of it.

Fix the feed problem, and that should fix the angel wing problem. Just keep an eye out, just in case you need to wrap it one more time, but it looks like it's already fixed.

I don't know what to say about the taunt skin hopefully eventually the new skin will loosen some. Does it bother the duckling? Great to hear about the wing and so fast.

Has the duckling been out with the other ducks yet?
Doesn't seem to bother him - the bottom eyelid-thingy can still cover the eyeball when need be - but it seems like leaving that tender skin uncovered all the time is just asking for some kind of injury :/
No actual contact with them, but I took him out twice inside the top of that cage, once I sat it next to his mommy... not sure if that helped or just upset them both, honestly. When I open the door and he hears them he starts screeching almost every time :(

P. S. I gave up and started using male pronouns, but I swear every now and then he makes a loud noise that makes me wonder if he'll not start honking like a little girl soon, lol. Although I don't think I've ever had a duck hit 6 weeks and it not be obviously a girl, if it was gonna be, and he was 6 weeks last Sunday.

The big scab came off last night! Lots of new skin was under there and there's just a smaller thin scab now.

You have done an amazing job, and the bird looks awesome. Just a little more to go, and he'll be just fine. Congratulations!
Thank you! It's such a relief!
I'm honestly a little surprised... I wasn't sure that much missing flesh could grow back, not being stitched together or anything, especially on such a fast-growing critter, lol.

Oh and by the way folks - it's a girl! :celebrate
This isn't the best or most obvious girly-quack I've heard in the past day or two, but it's the only one I've been able to get on video, lol. She won't do it if I'm holding the phone up at her, and often only if I leave the room (so that's what I did, haha).
Meet Billie Sue - I've teasing my boss that since my little baby was bald I'd name it after him since he's bald as well (he doesn't find this as amusing as I do:gig), and since the baby is not a "he" but a "she", I thought adding Sue helped distinguish gender and also honors her mommy, Ruby Sue.
