Hi! I am trying to figure out if one of my chickens has scaly leg mites or not. I've been keeping an eye on her and haven't noticed much change. Her scales still look a little lifted but I'm not seeing anything progress. None of my chickens are scratching or pecking at their feet. I'm attaching some photos from the end of July and today (the end of Sept). If this were scaly leg mites would I see some progression, or debris or scratching? I don't have any experience with this and would appreciate some guidance from those who do. Thank you!

Looks more like beat up worn scales.

If you wish, you could still apply some oil or vaseline to her feet/legs once a week, it won't hurt a thing.
Thank you. I didn't realize that was a thing. Do I need to clean her legs before I apply the oil? I was thinking of using coconut oil. Have you heard of any issues with that?

You can rinse off her legs is you want to, but dirt is going to stick to the oil and they will be dirty in no time:)

Coconut oil, castor oil, vaseline, NuStock cream, etc. can be used. If you have Coconut oil on hand, that should work just fine.
