Scam???

Does your friend normally talk like that? I'm thinking, too, that your friend has been hacked and that's how your name and address was added to this list. Those emails sound a whole heck of a lot like the scammer emails you get offering you inheritances, out of country lottery winnings, etc......very much like English is their second, third, 62nd language. And yes, it's a scam. You're absolutely right on that.

Yes she does talk like that. That is why its so "ripe" for foreigners to take advantage of deaf folks whose English is not that great.

Ah, then double shame on them! I was thinking maybe with the spelling, no punctuation and sentence order that maybe you'd be able to be pretty sure it wasn't your friend. I'd still be worried that they were hacked somehow and that's how they got your info, though. Have you heard back from your friend yet? I'm worried about them, too, now, although REALLY kind of hoping they were hacked and it's not them you are talking to....so they aren't really out that much money.

My little brother is deaf. Let me talk to Jerry and see what he knows about this.

If it's a scam, this really makes my blood boil. Scammers are bad enough, but scammers that target special groups of people who are already at a disadvantage REALLY deserve a special kind of prison just for them when they get caught...

They get a special dose of Karma and a special ring of Heck.

It possible they are auto generating list of people OR they are asking people they have already hooked.

There's a computer 'worm' that can phish your address book if you open the email that it is sent in. You just have to open the email to read it and it goes burrowing into your computer, immediately accessing your addresses and using them to send out these nefarious emails.
I recently took a cyber security class because my lab is going to travel to a high-security gov't lab to do some work and I just learned about this. These worms can really wreak havoc with security.

Have you been in contact with your "friend" for sure. I think someone is attempting to scam you and she is no part of it at all. "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." Nobody gives away something for nothing.
