So I was laying on the bed wishing my headache would hurry up and go away,when my mutt cockerel jumped on to the bed (he is in because he is bullied by the whole flock) and let out his first crow! I didn't see him on the bed so when he did it,I jumped out of my skin. He then jumped down and did it again as if saying "Look what I can do!" (said in the voice of Stuart from MadTv)

It was the most pathetic crow sounded more like one of my kids screaming.

yeah I think the first crow is always comical and the best part of raising cockerels

Those first crows are pretty funny. Sometimes those little guys seemed as surprised by their first crow as we are.

We didn't intend to raise cockerels, but 5 of the "pullets" from the pullet bin were boys. So now they are at a forever home with us,even if I threaten to send them to stew camp.

Oh my goodness that is hilarious.
I've never raised a cockerel, but I've heard so many stories about the first—hideous—crow. I want to hear it firsthand someday.

HahahahahahahahaHA! XD I remember hearing my little OEGB's first crow... Sounded like a blackbird's sound and that's what I thought it was until I saw the little cockerel make the noise himself.

we have 2 OEGB's also they are just the cutest but dang can they fly!
