Okay, so one of the Buff Orpingtons has turned into Dracula. I have no idea what the heck she wants, but its sure not legal. She just pecked my hand for no reason at all - I was totally ignoring her - and she drew blood!

Whenever I have entered the run in the past few days she comes running. I swear she stalks me, with an evil glint in her eye. Then she cranes her neck up to an absolutely unbelievable height, and tries to peck my fingers. I thought at first it was this opal ring, because that's where she got me the first couple times. But I've had this ring a lot longer than I'de had her- she's from the batch born first week of March - and she never noticed it before. I think she is one of the girls who just started laying this past week. Does that have something to do with it?

Honest, folks, this hen is scaring me. She might as well be a La Fleche devilbird with horns?

Any ideas why she is totally stalking me? Defending her sisters? Her eggs?

I'm a skeered to go back in there!

What I would do is sit her on your lap and hand feed her. Then she will know you are how whe gets her food.

No idea as to why she''s doing that though.

I was gonna say have a good dinner, but then I read the1much post above. Try roughing her up and giving her attention, maybe that is what she needs. HAHAHAHA![IMG] too funny.

Yeah, I'd say dinner but I let the kids get invlved and it's L-O-V-E, especially with the fluffy Brahmas and Orps. Cute? Hah!

I like the advice to just give her some roughhousing. I'll report back tomorrow - if I survive!
