If scented candles were deadly to parrots mine would be dead a long time ago.
I used to burn tons of them and smoke cigarettes in my room where the bird lived.
We still have candles going often and even some scented insenses now and then.
We've had plenty of chicks in brooders exposed to this and have had no problems.
Half the time we burn them to get rid of the brooder smell.
I quit smoking when I found out Drumstick was coming so please don't get
mad at me about smoking around my bird. I was young and stupid. Now I'm
a little older and stupid, but smoke free.
Glad I read this post thought you were selling candles that smelled like chickens and was wondering fried chicken? burning feathers? or plain old chicken stuff smell. Dont know what effect scented candles would have on chickens though. Are you trying to get your chickens in the mood or just trying to cover up that chicken smell??
Actually, I didn't want to kill the chicks I have in the house like I did my parakeets about 8 yrs. ago.
I love scented candles and the scented oil but haven't been sure about the effects on my chicks, so I haven't burned any in about 6 weeks.
Ya'll really crack me up with that weird sense of humor,
after fighting the mobs with last minute shopping, I really needed a good laugh.
But since I'm planning on cranking the bator back up after Christmas, I might just have to try the "getting them in the mood" thing if ya'll think it has the slightest chance of working.
