School closings in Alabama? anyone hear about this? (h1n1)

I had a student in my classroom last spring who was diagnosed with the swine flu. No one else got sick. We didn't close.

Your county Health Department will help your school administrators decide the best course of action to take.

I dont know about your employment agreement but in most cases of health care workers they cant MAKE you have the shot, they can however tell you not to come to work if there is an outbreak and you choose to decline the vaccine BUT like I said it depends on the employment agreement.

My employer sent an email out that stated they won't MAKE you take the vaccine, but if you don't, you have to wear a mask for your entire shift between the months of October and March...

Yes, I did. My whole family went to the local mall, stood in line to get the vaccine. It was in a multi-dose "air gun". No needles.
Of course I was the only one to have the reaction. Felt horrible, ran a fever, was achy all over, arm was red and swollen ----I slept for several days straight.
Needless to say, I do NOT get ANY flu shot. If I get a cold it goes into pneumonia or bronchitis, so I am very careful to wash hands etc.

A system in north Alabama made a local decision to close schools for two days due to some swine flu cases. Pretty much every system has had cases at this point, but most do not close. That system will make their days up later. It's not a huge epidemic situation, just a precaution.

In our hospital the vaccine is not mandatory but relentlessly encouraged.
I always get the seasonal flu vaccine...not sure about the swine flu - I'm waiting to see how the trials turn out.
It looks like the swine flu may be the predominant strain this year though according to what we are observing in the southern hemisphere. I will probably get the vaccine.
