Sci fi/fantasy books

Anything by N. K. Jemisin but especially the Broken Earth trilogy.

They're classics so you've probably already read them but Ursula K. Le Guin's work is always worth a re-read imo (and worth mentioning for anyone reading this thread who's new to the genre).

Since you mentioned SF in the title I'll also chuck in a recommendation for a collection of short stories I come back to again and again - Mirrorshades: The Cyberpunk Anthology edited by Bruce Sterling. All older works but a good intro while also being a quick, easy read you can dip in and out of.

Liu Cixin (often written as Cixin Liu in English) is good for SF too - both short stories and full length novels.
