I dont know what kind of scratch you have. But things like corn, wheat, oat and barley are all very good food for chickens. But it is not enough.
They would need some more protein and some greens. In some places they can find what extra they need freeranging. And perhaps your kitchenscrabs has what they need.
If not, the most easy thing must be buying some kind of pellets or crumbles with more than 14 percent protein.
But with only one hen and one rooster, I think scratch and leftovers from your household will go a very long way. Just make sure they get some leftover meat, fish, cooked beans, cottage chease, yoghurt or some other things with a lot of protein several times every week. Just a tiny bit is enough when there are only two, because they allready get quite a lot of protein from scratch, even from the corn.
