As long as you have the Vetericyn that is formulated to go into the eyes, it will be fine. A spray may be harder to apply, but you could always take a clean q-tip, dip it into the bottle and apply drops that way. Careful to use a clean q-tip each time so you don't contaminate your bottle. Alternatively if you have any syringes, draw up just a little and apply drops that way.I got some VETERICYN from Tractor supply yesterday but it is the spray kind. I looked at and inside both my Marans and could not see a difference. The one with bad eye had just gotten a drink so beak looks wet. Here are pictures of both sides of beak. Do you just cut toe nails to blunt them? (seems like a silly question but new to chickens). My 9 year old daughter took the pictures so a little blurry.
IF she doesn't improve after a couple of days of eye cleaning/applying ointment 2X a day, or if she worsens/develops symptoms, then you may want to consider administering antibiotics. Tylan50 can be found at TSC dosage is .20ml per 1pound of weight given orally 2-3times a day for 5days. You would still want to continue with eye care as well.
Yes, you can trim the nails and even file them a little to help blunt them. Just don't cut to much or you can cut the quick and make it bleed (painful too)
