Humidity is defined by how much water surface has air exposure. Guess what the paper towel is cutting it down.
The plugs are there to be pulled when you live in high elevation to increase oxygen levels. You do not pull it unless your are 6000 feet high. You can later pull it if you want the ducklings to dry off in the incubator. This means they all need to be out, which usually never happens all at once. Using hot water is a silly idea. It will pump it up at once, but is will go down as it cools. Yet, you never fill the cavities with cold water either. You want to be close to 100 degree water to refill. You are aiming for 85% humidity. Filling all the holes should do it. It not have a paper towel hand over the side dipping into the water inside of the incubator. That will get it up a lot, because it wicks up the water and exposes a lot of air to it.

temp is 99 ~ humidity is only 79 ~ I took paper towels out. If I hang a piece of Paper Towel over the side of the Water Container Inside Incubator, Will Water Run Down Paper Towel To Bottom of Incubator?? }}}Cuz there Is Holes In Bottom of Incubator} Thanks, Julie

The water will only wick up so far, so its not going to siphon it out. If you don't already, get some sponges. get a 4 pack, take two of them, soak 'em, and let them float in the water container, then soak the other two and lay them on the wire of the incubator and wet them with warm water when needed, also if you have any hand towels you can soak those and put them half in half out of the water container.

i have 1 sponge floating already my water container is pretty full. I Will hang a wash cloth over side of water container. Before I open bator... should i turn the other 5 eggs while open?

Thanks so much KansasKid I didn't know what I was gonna do...temp is 98 humidity is about 83 i have warmish wet wash cloth hanging over water container and added another damp sponge under vent hole i squirted a lil hot water through hole on to sponge then waited a bit for temp & humidity change... Thanks for the info, The Duck ABC's. I'll go check again n a few, trying to get temp & humidity up a lil more. Thanks critterranch, i turned the 5 while bator was open.

ummmm.... The water Did eventually suck up in the wash cloth(which was hanging over the side of container). There was a lot of water in container and next thing I knew the water was WAY Down & the towel under bator was wet so i had to move bator so moisture wouldn't mess up the table. ~Now temp jumped a little /I added Hot water through vent hole to container, but I'm monitoring it closely & humidity is about 85 now.
