I thought birds were different than mammals.

Does that also separate them from men?

When I found my sick girl tonight, she was pushing something out her vent. I brought her inside and washed her off in the kitchen sink.

The thing that was being pushed out the vent was reddish pink and was part of her. It was soft, not hard; when I poked it, it gave way easily. It was spherical, or I should say hemispherical. It looked to me like whatever natural action pushes stuff out the vent was happening over and over again, but nothing was getting pushed out -- that is, there wasn't anything in place to be pushed.

I cleaned up the area -- she'd obviously been pushing some poop out during the day because it wasn't all hardened or caked on -- and felt around for anything hard that might be internal near the vent. I found nothing. I squeezed, poked and prodded. A couple times it sounded like some gas might have passed through the vent while I was squeezing. But, nothing solid or liquid came out and I couldn't feel anything that would have suggested something was stuck inside. The vent was moist and the thing that was pushing out opened the vent plenty large enough for a normal sized egg to escape.

She has been drinking and she was in the yard for part of the day, so she has been moving around. I did not think to check her crop, but think I would have noticed while handling her if it was over large.

Anyway, if it was an impacted or obstructed egg, would I be able to feel it somehow?

It's over, I found her dead this morning.

She had pushed intestines out through her vent which looked like it had been ripped to a bigger size than normal.

I still do not know quite what was wrong with her, I didn't examine too closely, but there was no egg apparent.
