scrotal hernia piglet

Hello. I have an opportunity to get a piglet, 6 week old red wattle cross, but he has a scrotal hernia. I'm thinking of raising a few months as a roaster, but not sure. I'd love some insight from someone that has successfully raised a pig with this condition. Thank you.

From what i've seen, (on Dr. Pol) a scrotal hernia should be easy for your vet to fix

Thank you. I've been trying TiVo find a vet to do it, but so far the ones I've called say they don't. I'm going to head to a local pig farm and ask if they can recommend someone. Many thanks to you for your response

No problem! If i remember right, the surgery should be kinda like castration

Yes! It is, I'm not sure why they didn't just do it, I'm pretty sure it's because they weren't exactly sure, they said they've never dealt with it before and just sell the pigs with an issue as roasters. My husband is willing to do it himself, but we were hoping to either find an experienced hand to guide him, or a good vet
