Thank you. I think they are lovely birds, too. I have no male. They are really just yard ornaments.

Hey, Janelle, did you divest yourself of your bantams? I recall you didn't want anymore because they were getting picked off free ranging. I want to let out my D'Anvers, but am afraid I'd never find them again in the woods!

Did you notice this thread is up to 1000 pages?

The only bantams I kept were my mottled cochins. i have under a dozen of them though (not counting the young one growing up).

They live in a 4x8 coop within a 16x24 uncovered pen. the pen has 3 scarecrows in it and a big jungle gym they could dive under last minute.

DH was selling some of my son's things at a local flea market Wednesday and had fliers for Ranger there. One guy asked how he'd do in the woods. The woods???!!

Well, he'd be eaten the first night, that's how a white chicken who's used to being sheltered every night would do tossed out in the woods to fend for himself! Good grief, I'll keep Ranger before I'll send him to someone who just wants to throw him in the woods. I could do that here, for crying out loud! I'd rather him be eaten for dinner than thrown out in the woods, frightened and confused. Yes, he can free range and find food, has since he was small, but he always has a coop to return to at night. This is why I'd rather give him to a BYCer or keep him than give him to one of the locals. Not sure what the point of getting a rooster is if all the guy's going to do is toss him out in the woods to live.

Freakin inbred idiots are everywhere it seems, you've got at least one in north Georgia. In the woods indeed...Tom should have asked him how he would do in the 4th grade if he ever progresses that far.
