You will do no such thing!
I refuse to lose one of my very best friends on account of an overbearing mother in law! Just lock the doors, shout out directions to the nearest Motel 6 and tell her: Sorry! We're not accepting visitors at this time! Then display the shotgun prominently in your arms!
Either that or give me her phone number and I'll spell it out for her, in no uncertain terms, just how little you care to have or need a visit from her royal PITA-ness right now!
So what if she gets ticked off at me? I couldn't give a rats patootie what she thinks of me!
OK, OK, OK, I've been promising this for some time now........PICTURES!
Here's a nice portrait of Emilio, commonly referred to as 'Milio. 18 weeks old now and just a great big Mama's Boy!
A little broader view of him. His wings are drooping due to the near 100F day we had today!
Every model's portfolio needs a butt shot, right?
This here is Eleanor, aka Ellie
And little Madison, aka Maddie:
Maddie may look like the sweeter of the two girls, but like they say: Looks can be deceiving! They're both very sweet, but Maddie is only sweet when you're paying a great deal of attention to her. If I don't respond to her demands for attention right away, she'll pinch the holy bejeebers out of me! She is learning that I don't like that kind of behaviour though! A quick clamping down on her beak and looking her straight in the eyes while I tell her NO, seems to be working. Some people's kids, eh?
And here they are all together:
Can you tell that it was scorching hot here today? Just look at those poor babies and their drooping wings. They love it when I start spraying down their yard with the garden hose. PUDDLE TIME!!
One of these days, I'm gonna get a few good pictures of my little "Mud Hens" when they're playing in the puddles!
I just have to post a pic of my sweet little BO hen, FussyButt. She's five and a half years old now. Hard to believe when you see her. She's so gosh darn healthy and robust. She doesn't really lay any more. I think it's been nearly two years since I've seen an egg from my little sweetie pie, but that's just fine with me. So long as she is healthy and happy, I'm happy.
In that picture she is taking a break from being harassed by Goobey by hiding out in the pump house.
Just look at these sweet gentle eyes.
Don't you just want to pick her up and cuddle her all day long? It's also hard to believe that this is the same hen that used to flog me when she'd go broody in her younger days. She was a hellion in those days to be sure. The years have definitely mellowed her.
Anybody wanna see pictures of our latest progress on the house? OK! Here ya go:
The East porch:
We've laid down about 2/3rds of the decking on this side before we ran out of funds for that part of the project. We'll resume that next month when we have more money. So far, so good. We've managed to build this entire house without a construction loan or mortgage of any kind. With any luck, we'll be able to continue in that vein.
And here's the West porch:
No decking down on it just yet. Only a few scrap sheets of OSB so that we can kind of utilize it. It will have a set of large log steps leading up to porch in front of the French doors and a nice exposed aggregate walkway leading up to the steps. The roof of this porch is sheeted, but unlike the East porch, we have yet to dry it in with the tar paper. We're waiting for a cooler day to take care of that. Once that is done, we'll schedule our roofers to come back and roof the porches. They're a great crew! And their prices are more than reasonable. We'd do it ourselves, but we're not spring chickens any more, ya know.
That's work for young bucks. Not old codgers like us!
So! There ya go! Pictures as promised. Now, if you'll excuse me....I'm pooped! It's been a loooong and HOT day! Good night, sweet dreams everyone, and I'll catch up to y'all on the morrow!
