I was just telling you all about this new Purina layer feed with the high O-mega 3. I don't feed Purina because of the no meat in it. Our Durmor layer and chick starter does have the porcine meat in it and thats what I feed. Anyway that $16 is pretty expensive for me.

Thank you beth on the birthday thing! LOL YOUng? Um that would be a begative - i jsut turned 44! I dont feel it at all i still think the same as i did in my 20's!

LH - Lord i fear if you didnt have bad luck lately you wouldnt have any at all. That is just ridiculous - i feel so bad! So this COW-ard man - he lives on the same private road as you? Have his cows ever come down there before? Would seem to me that are strays at that point when they are on your property - i have yet to figure out in this mess why the cows are free and not contained? And I love Jo! She is too funny - no one is messing with me or my momma! Get em girl!

Hope you are in not too much pain and the ribs heal quickly

And on another note - i have been told as well when trying to condition birds especially for shows - it is key important to have animal proteins in their food? I am sure some people dont want that as they may want organic/vegetarian eggs kinda deal.

It is cold and rainy here and of course my last broody hatched her eggs yesterday grrr- and of course they are the most unique colored chicks ever - well excpet for the black - BUT i really wanted a black ....the other two are like a really neat silver blueish color and their legs and beaks are dark grey - now where this came from NOT sure. Darn Cochins - you want broody - heavens - i am currently fighting three more hens that are insisting that september is a good time to go broody -

Havea good day all!

Kathy - like I said I don't care what you or anyone calls them. New Hampshire or whatever. Makes no never mind to me. Not that important. Though I may just call them New Hampshire Reds to annoy people with Martha Stewart type personalities.

She was rude to DW once and I've never cared for her since.

Yard - Never considered the "meat" factor. Feed Dumor mostly and only got the Purina to save a couple of bucks. I'll just mix it with the rest. I figure as long as they are walking and talking they're fine.

Cyn - no need to worry about biblical floods, it will be fire next time, but if you see me and my flock coming up the hill you'll know it's deep down here.
lol.png

Cetawin - I'm glad you don't live near me nor your neighbors. Can't see why you just don't put in a speed bump or two. You know stress kills. Ain't no sense getting worked up if you can avoid it.

As for your ribs, get some rest. Happened to me once but not with a cow. Once went to school for Animal Husbandry but dropped out. No way was I going to fit my short arm in a cow and turn a calf nor take one by the horns and bring it down. Lord have mercy I weighed about 120 at the time and I ain't taller than a cow. Anyhow gets some rest please. When they got to the AI I said I'm outta here.

It's raining here and Lord have mercy I hate to think whats to come. Wish I had a thing for snow but I don't know where Kathy gets all those cool emoticons.

Take care and stay dry,

Rancher

Rancher, head for the mountains for sure - at least the floods run downhill. I keep thinking I keep my runs clean, but rain like we have had really swept them out.

Knox, you CHILD you. Enjoy your 40's- I can only wish I had that energy again!

LH, JO LOVES YOU. I have known this from the first time you told me she pouted but did what she was told. I think there was a love at first site thing with her. Remember I raised that child, and I know what she is thinking. And my DH said to tell Jo he is proud of her for defending you and that she has upheld the family honor.
GET SOME REST. I will send bologna or something asap.

Who was it said they wanted an Orpington rooster? I am ready to travel and meet you part way.

Gloria Jean, I cannot find Darrel's number, but might could track him down at the fair this weekend. He HAS to be there.

LH, I am so sorry about your troubles and I hope you heal quickly and also that your body will be ready for surgery as soon as possible. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am very proud of Jo, she sounds like a wonderful girl. I agree that you should take that guy to court.

Kathy, sorry about your shoulder. I hope you feel better soon.

Nella, that's the one- about 40 minutes from my house. I got a bunny friend for her already, a really cute little tort from Liles Lops- I would love to meet you! What time are you going to be there? Want any roosters?

Kathy, I missed that about your shoulder- what happened?

Oh Mrs. Kathy I know exactly what your going thru with pinched nerves in your neck. I have attacks often from them too, from a vehicle accident 16 years ago I was ejected out of my truck at about 120 MPH the DR. told me I hyper-extended my back and neck, I told him "you reckon"? Sounds like maybe you need a dose of your perscription to Cetawin and get some rest too yours might be stress related, maybe, huh?

sometimes burnin' the candle at both ends soon catches up with you. Take care of you.

LH I sure hope you a speedy recovery with the cracked ribs and the other ailment(s) you have. I also can relate with you on the fractured ribs I did that too in the same wreck. I broke one of mine in-two length-wise (still is tender to this day and cracked my sternum(breast bone) and if anybody has ever had that broken you know EVERYTIME you move, breathe, fart, grunt, groan, whatever, it moves and hurts like all get-out, I mean like make you nauseated type hurts. Then when you puke

, guess what there it hurts again. It takes a long tome for moving bones such as ribs or anything related to that area to heal- up, believe you me, I know. When they do open heart surgery the healing of the breast plate is usually one of the worst things (invasive part) on the body that is why now if thy can do anything to your heart orthoscopically, angio-plasty or stint -wise it is an easier recovery for the patient. OK I shall hush up ramblin' now.

Knox, theses cows are owned by this freak that leases 116 acres next to me....our road is a private road but because of his lease he had useage rights. The cows were jumping the cattle guard the crosses the road and they found their way into my barn and into Jo's Alfalfa/Timothy hay. This has been going on all summer. The man does not feed the cows properly nor take care of them, the calves are loaded with worms and have milk belly but most importantly, the grass has been primarily dead for over a month and so they know where food is...in my barn. His solution when I would call him and tell him to come get them out of my barn and force him to replace my hay was "Well you really need to put doors on here, run a fenceline in the woods and fix the opening in your fence" I said "Why should I do that to keep YOUR cows off of MY property and out of MY horse's barn?" he told me that I should do that so his cows do not dmage things and my horses does not get out. I asked him what part of MY property HIS cows did he not get. The man is an idiot. Jo's pasture has one fenceline that does not exist...it is in the woods on a steep decline of bramble and rock...Jo does not go near that property line. When she was first allowed on the pasture I took her and walked the perimeter with her and I tried to walk her into those woods...she took two steps and realized how steep and unsteady the ground was and she stopped. She has never gone within 5 feet of that woodline since. She has no need to, she has 2 1/2 acres of grass that is all hers to romp on and graze, she can come and go inside the barn as she wishes, she has her own fan, water buckets and stall to get out of the hot day or the rain. There will eventually be three strands of barbed wire down in the woods with flags on it for her to see but that will only to keep things out not her in. When Jo wants out, she walks through the gate, through the barn and into the front yard hahahahaha or she jumps the chain going across the only opening in the fence not covered by a gate and she goes to the front yard. I have come to realize that she does that when she wants attention because she stands right in front of the livingroom window. As soon as she sees me come out she trots back to the barn and waits for me. The second stock trailer load of cows left a bit ago and I think there are only a few more calves left on the property to be removed so hopefully this will all be over soon.

I hate the drama and especially hate dealing with inbred habitual liar...hopefully when this is all over, it will not be worth it him to lease the property and he will put cows somewhere else. He reminds me of the dog owners...they think their dogs are free to roam anywhere terrorizing whatever and whoever...this guy thinks it is my job to keep his cows off my property.
