Well, Don Schrider of the ALBC is wrong. The breeds name is New Hampshire. There is no "Red" in the breed. You can see this in the APA SOP book, as well.

Yard full o' rocks :
Are ya'll trying to specifically feed product that is "meat" free??
I use Tucker Milling (local manufacturer) and meat by products is the second ingredient. Everything I'm reading says chickens need "meat" protein
Am I behind in a discussion here???!!!
BTW - evening y'all....rainy and cool here today (Praise Glory)
I want meat by products in my feed. I also want tagetes or marigold extract. So, I am mixing Purina Game Bird Conditioner (19%) with meat by products and Nutrina Nature Wise feed with marigold extact (18%). I am also now adding scratch and BOSS into the mix. I prefer my Layers have no more than 19% (prefer 16 - 18%) protein. I am finding too much protein causes as many problems as not enough protein. Up to point of lay I like around 19 - 20%. It is hard to find feed around here that has animal by products. I can order ADM feed which has it, and I do that when I remember.
