I need your help, opinions, please...........

Barred;Black;Delaware;Split gold/silver males;Buff Columbian; Barred Buff Columbian & Silver Columbian (the last will be pullets).

These are the possibilities I get in the F2s.
* OK, I can identify the yellow chicks as Delaware or Silver Columbian, I believe. Correct? (Silver Columbian should be a "white chicken," as it would be white with "silver" hackles = a white chicken).
* I can identify the barred by the dot on top of the head, correct?
* I can identify the blacks as all black, right?
* Of course the buff will be the Barred Buff Columbian or Buff Columbian, yes?
* NOW, the dilemma ..... Are the split gold/silver males the ones with silver (whitish looking on the back, etc) and with faces that also have yellow and brown?

Pictures ..... first 3 I have identified as blacks. The next photos are the ones I am thinking must be the Split gold/silver males. What do you all think?

I have no clue, but the 3rd picture down - that is Baby Stinkeye at it's finest!

Wow kathy - i dont know - i agree the first three are blacks - would it be possible to keep the others once to see what they turn out like? Hopefully someone can give you a sure answer !!!!!

No, I am not keeping any of them other than the yellow and buff chicks. I just can't. I really do not have room for it. To proceed with the project I really only need the yellow chicks. I am pushing it (space-wise) by keeping the buffs. The black chicks are all being picked up this afternoon.

Darn that is too bad - i understand tho - this is probably taking alot of space for you . I have never seen a black chick look like those - We need to find a place to send them that they can be seen at a later date~!

Kathy, I wish I could help, but I have NO idea - can any of your genetics friends ID those chicks, knowing the background? Your guess is logical, since everything else seems identifiable, and those are the odd chicks out. I still think you got a good collection of yellow chicks, you should get something to work with out of that, shouldn't you? Unless they are all male or something awful.......

I LOVE picture #1 and I really hope it makes it- I will definitely get a calendar if it does.

Nella, those mottled birds are really gorgeous!

Scott you better not look at your boy when you pick him up, he is molting and looks like the rag bag!
