Kids, I agree with y'all. Not every boy is worth keeping. [omg! did I really say that!?!

] There are some that are just determined to be total toe rags, no matter how much love, patience and understanding you show to them. And while they may learn to be nice to humans, it's far more important that they learn to be good roosters, and do a good job of doing roosterly things!

Protect the flock, provide for the girls, nurture the young, guard the old, guide them all along every day. And to do it all in a gentle and gentlemanly fashion. It's not an easy job for any rooster. There are bound to be times when he looses his patience and gets a bit rough or demanding. But for a rooster to be consistently rude, rough or demanding, well, that's just not acceptable...to the girls, or me! Goobey has received a thumping on more that one occasion for just such offenses, and not just from Chief!

Which is why Goobey is going to go live with his uncles for a time. Just as soon as I can get around to building the duplex coop. Chief, the girls and I are all just a bit tired of his antics. Though I do believe with maturity he could become an awesome flock rooster. Only time will tell. But until that day comes, I think two roosters in the hen house is just a bit much.

To date, 'Milio has only crowed once. They were just trial attempts, and so far, it seems to be all he was interested in displaying in the way of rooster behavior. I think he's a bit intimidated by Chief and Goobey both being in the same environment with him. That's fine. Hopefully it gives me a bit more time to get the situation settled to everyone's benefit. And I do believe that Goobey will benefit immensely from having his butt kicked every now and then by his uncles!

Who knows? He might even learn some manners out of the deal!

Anyhow, enough about me and my boys...............

And what babies they are! Love, love LOVE the little Delawegger! Sure hope that they turn out to be little girls for ya. More Delaware's and Delaweggers! That's what this old world needs!

I agree with you sweetie. Bully has got to go! Especially if he's the reason that Punky is sporting the blue coat look right now! Poor little guy! And I bet he's just as sweet as the day is long. Yup! Enjoy yourself a Bully Buffet with my full blessing. [not that you need it.

Amy, yes, the bully is the reason that Punky has a blue head. The poor guy had just finally healed up from Dumpling nearly scalping him and then this happened. He is a sweet little guy too.

Beth...did she pout? Hahahaha. OMG did she pout! She squealed, stomped and went running to her favorite fence post and took a bite out of it and got scolded for that and pouted some more. When she does not get her way there is one fence post in the field that she will go peel pieces off of. She has gotten swatted with a dishtowel for doing that but in full pout she will do it anyway. She recovered from the indignity of it all but she does not like them I can tell. She takes it easy coming into the barn wearing them...no more sliding into the barn and skidding to a stop. They interfere with her theatrics so naturally she does not like them. Hahahahaha

I have a cold dang it and I blame Cynthia and Bear...Cynthia passed germs through the phone and Bear cougheed in the house. Dang them both. Dang them I say

I am trying to figure out how I can keep a few extra boys till spring- if I give all the hens and pullets their own space for the winter, I could keep a few extra roos as long as they don't kill each other.
