LH left and is almost home again. She has 5 cute Olive Egger chicks and 4 Suede kids and we had a really good time! So glad they came this weekend. We made pancakes for Suede and his girls and all my birds are now spoiled rotten again.
Smoky's crop isn't working well. It's full, but nothing is moving. She's always had a "swingy" crop, something I've only found among the Orps, no other breeds I've ever had. Now, during her big molt, which is often the time it malfunctions, it isn't working right. It's huge, though not rock hard, and she is extremely thin, so obviously not much is getting through. She is separated with ACV water, no food for the night. Gave her some of our home canned tomato juice, something that Pine Grove says often helps with crop issues and tomorrow, will give her yogurt and more massages to try to move things along. Sure hope I don't lose her. Suede only has the two blue girls and Meg. If I have to, I do have those huge Buff Orp pullets from Jody I could give him, but hope it won't come to that.
Oh I will. She is getting a warm soak, baby vitamins and raspberry applesauce with chick food when we get home. We just stopped and checked everyone, and about an hour to our driveway.
Let me tell you all the mark of true friendship...it is when you look at your friend while still in your pjs and say
"Well let me put on my jeans and I will go see if I can get your rooster to attack me"
Yeah I am crazy that way and I am glad to report that no matter what I did Rex would not attack me, the stranger. Only the 1pound menace Rusty would. Lmao
Rusty is too big for his tailfeathers and he'd better watch it! That little snot may have to go to KY one day to get the lavender bubblebath treatment from Cheyenne!
And as far as friendship goes, that doesn't need proving. It's locked in for good. I treasure our friendship, LH.
I'm so glad you had a great weekend in Ga LH
Cyn. I sure hope Smokey will come along again. I bet those orps of Jodys would give him a run for his money at his age. Sorry LH Suede is a mistro he can handle it.
