Could be, but Velvet and Skye were not related to Dusty and Smoky and I lost both of them to crop issues.

Smoky suddenly stood up and was standing with eyes closed. She was like that for awhile, then Tom put the baby monitor in the room so she could hear coop noise (including Suede crowing). We were in and out and one time I walked in and she had actually walked a few steps to the water and was looking at me, whereas, formerly, she was laying down, almost unresponsive with eyes closed, wouldn't even try to swallow water dribbled beside her beak. She even was taking water from the syringe. She is by no means out of the woods, but that is more than I expected.

I am praying for Smoky, Thor's mama needs to be give me a few more babies yet so she much hang in there. Be strong Smoky.

Cyn, how is the blue patient this morning? So far no issues with Athena's crop, I have yet to have massage it or anything, it gets huge but empties overnight. The thing I have noticed is that it is a pendlum crop but not free moving like her mama's. She lost some weight during this molt and I that is when I really noticed how low it hangs and so forth. It may well be a family trait. Time will tell with Athena but so far no issues.

She ate some eggs. Now, I wait for the poop that shows things are getting through her system and then I'll give her more food. I brought in some chick starter that I'll wet down and feed her so she gets more nutrition in her. If she doesn't develop an infection and her crop starts processing, I think she'll make it! She's very tired from days of little to no food getting through, of course, but maybe I dare hope?
